I HAVE NEVER CLIMBED BEFORE -- HOW DO I START?

Great! High Altitude welcomes beginners and pros alike. First thing's first -- safety. You will want to fill out our online waiver and set up your profile, here.

If you are already a member, we offer a FREE belay course. This is where you can learn the ropes, literally! Members are free. There is a fee for non-members of $25. View the schedule and reserve your spot today! Or give us a call: (775) 831-4212.

You DO NOT need to know how to belay to climb at our facility. However, if you intend to climb with a partner, using the ropes, you will need to be belay certified. View the requirements here to prepare.

We offer four TRU BLU auto belay systems! See how they work, here!

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY OWN GEAR?

We offer rental gear at the front desk! Shoe sizes range from children's size 3/4 to Adult size 15. (Adult sizes are unisex).

CAN I BORROW MY FRIEND’S OLD GEAR?

Old shoes are fine to borrow; however, borrowing old safety gear including harnesses, ropes and carabiners or belay devices are not recommended.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear clothes that are comfortable and allow movement. Bulky items and sweatshirts should be removed while you fit your harness.

DO YOU HAVE SHOWERS?

Yes, we have 3 showers in both the men's and women's locker rooms.

DO YOU HAVE LOCKERS?

Yes, we offer day use lockers--no need to bring your own lock! All contents must be taken home with you at the end of the day as our staff empties the lockers each night.

SHOULD I WEAR SOCKS WITH MY RENTAL SHOES?

Optional. Some people (kids in particular) believe that wearing socks make the rental shoes more comfortable.
